The local planning and program committees of the Southern Conference on African American Studies, Incorporated (SCAASI) invite paper and panel proposals for the organization’s fortieth annual convention to be held February 7–9, 2019, in Tallahassee, Florida.
SCAASI is an interdisciplinary professional organization dedicated to bringing together scholars from all races and creeds, who are interested in analyzing, interpreting and preserving African American History and Culture. Since its inception in the 1970’s by a small, but influential group of southern scholars the organization has grown tremendously and now includes multidisciplinary scholars and researchers from all over the US who comment on, research and generate conversations about the Black community.
The theme of the 2019 conference is “SCAASI Turns 40: Celebrating 40 Years of Interpreting and Preserving African American History and Culture”. The program committee will consider proposals on all topics that pertain to the African Diaspora. Individual paper and panel proposals (complete with abstracts) are due September 30, 2018, and should not exceed one page.
Committee Chair: Darius Young, first vice president of SCAASI and chair of the local planning committee, is the recipient: firstname.lastname@example.org.
