The AAIHS invites scholars across career stages and affiliations (from graduate students to senior faculty and independent scholars) to submit proposals for scholarly papers (20-minute presentations), organized panels of three or four papers, poster sessions, lecture-demonstrations, film screenings, or workshops. They accept individual submissions, but preference is given to full panels.
What I'm hoping for are two other scholars willing to participate in a panel to participate in this conference, focused on Jazz and Jazz-as-Archive. This is a great opportunity to share work and ideas and to present at a prestigious conference.
My own work is focused on the connections between Jazz and Literature, along with looking at what makes an Archive versus the Orality of Jazz History. I've focused on John Coltrane's "Lack" of an easy-to-find Archive, and the relationship between Producer Teo Macero and Miles Davis.
