Hello friends and colleagues,
We are seeking a third or fourth panelist for a session on global forests and forestry at the upcoming ASEH meeting in Columbus, Ohio being held from April 10-14, 2019. The panel is tentatively titled "The Felicity of the Forest: Reconceptualizing the Global Exploitation of Forest Resources." In keeping with this year’s conference theme, the panel will be focused on the "Risks and Rewards" associated with the utilization of forest resources, broadly understood, from the material and economic to the strategic and spiritual, as well as the aims and effects of territorial, political, and/or ecological expansion and invasion. Paper proposals on any geographic region, methodology, and timeframe are invited, with the aim of encouraging interdisciplinary engagement on the subject of global forestry over the longue durée.
Panel participants thus far include myself, presenting on modern forests in the Russian Far East, Professor Kieko Matteson of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa presenting on early modern France, and Professor Geoffrey Parker of the Ohio State University serving as Chair.
If you are interested in joining, please email your (no more than) 300-word panel abstract and biographical details (name and affiliated university) to me, Michael Corsi, at email@example.com, no later than July 5 so as to allow time for the July 13 panel submission deadline. Thank you for your interest and consideration!
