Medieval Animals Primary Sources Handbook
Medieval Animals Primary Source Reader
Call for rare or previously untranslated short extracts from medieval sources (c. 400-1550 CE)
on any aspect of Medieval Real or Imaginary Animals
In your research have you come across a fascinating piece on a medieval animal which you would love to share?
We are putting together a primary sources reader on Medieval Animals and would like your help.
The Medieval Animals Primary Sources Reader will bring together extracts from a wide variety of key sources in translation and/or with excellent photographs of medieval material culture. Examples might include custumals, chronicles, romances, poetry, records, music, zooarchaeology, ivories, tapestries, art, frescoes, stained glass, statuary, standing archaeology: anything from a medieval bear's tooth carved with runes to Arabic animal fables. The sources will be prefaced by short introductions outlining significant areas for discussion and debate. It is hoped the book will be invaluable for a variety of undergraduate courses and seminars. This book is part of the Medieval Animals series for University of Wales Press / Gwasg Prifysgol Cymru. Please contact the general editor: Dr Diane Heath at diane.heath@canterbury.ac.uk. Thank you.
