29th Annual Conference, Lord Baltimore Hotel, Baltimore, MD

November 8-10, 2018

Deadline for Submissions: June 30, 2018

The wealth of material found in the Middle Ages and Renaissance continues to attract modern audiences with new creative works that make use of medieval and/or early modern themes, characters, or plots.  This is a call for papers or panels dealing with any aspect of medieval or Renaissance representations in popular culture.  Possible topics include essays on medieval- or Renaissance-inspired films such as Ready Player One or King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, televsion shows or advertisements (VikingsGame of Thrones, Westworld, Capitol One Viking Ads), and plays (Something Rotten!).  Papers concerning medieval-themed computer games, novels, graphic novels, and adaptations of medieval or Renaissance works also are welcome.  We also encourage submissions regarding tourism of historic sites or medieval/Renaissance-themed parks and festivals as well as papers regarding innovative ways of teaching the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
