Member Blog: A British Prof in Japan
I would like to bring members' attention to a new digital resource for teachers and students I have created, a blog providing a regular snapshot of life in everyday Japan (http://abritishprofinjapan.blogspot.jp/). Posts to date have covered topics as diverse as bento and the gendered division of labour, the new sex-crime revisions and chikan, police questioning of foreigners, and even Crayon Shin-Chan. The posts are short "bite-sized" pieces, with new Japanese terms introduced and explained; I have found this format helps to stimulate discussion about Japanese society and culture among my students. There is also a resources section containing Japanese Studies links and tools, as well as a selection of writings.
