The University of Tennessee at Martin will host the 2018 Ohio Valley History Conference at the Boling University Center in Martin, TN on October 18-20, 2018.

The OVHC is a general conference open to all historians, including gradaute students.  We welcome proposals on all periods and specializations including public history, digital history, and teaching history.  We especially invite proposals related to the centennial of U.S. participation in the Great War and the semicentennial of 1968.  Proposals can be submitted as individual papers or full panels.  We also welcome volunteers to chair panels or provide comment.

Submission Process: Please submit all proposals in a Microsoft Word document.  For a complete panel, please include the panel title, a 100-word abstract of each paper, and a 1-2 page cv for each participant.  For individual papers, please include a 250-word abstract and a 1-2 page cv.  Volunteers to chair sessions or provide comment should sbumit a 1-2 page cv indicating areas of interest and expertise.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, June 29, 2018.  Please send proposals to Richard Garlitz at rgarlitz@utm.edu.

Other information: Conference registration includes a welcome reception Thursday evening, a banquet on Friday evening, and a luncheon on Saturday.  The banquet speaker will be Thomas Bruscino, associate professor at the U.S. Army War College, who will present "From the Old World to the New: The Meuse-Argonne Campaign and the Birth of the American Century."  The Saturday luncheon speaker will be Rebecca Price, founder and president of Chick History, who will present "The March to the 19th," a collaborative venture with Humanities Tennessee to document women's history in Tennessee, especially as it relates to the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

Location: We have reserved a block of rooms at the Hampton Inn in Martin (731-587-5800).  Directions to the Boling University Center can be found on the UTM website.  Barkley Regional Airport in Paducah, KY (75 minutes from campus) offeres daily flights to and from Chicago O'Hare Airport and car rental.
