ROSEBERRY-NASH GRADUATE STUDENT AWARD COMPETITION 2017 CALL FOR PAPERS

 

The Society for Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology invites submission of papers for our Seventh Annual Roseberry-Nash Student Paper Contest. The competition honors the work of two distinguished anthropologists, June Nash and the late William Roseberry for their multiple contributions to the anthropological understanding of Latin America. The award will be presented at the next AAA meetings in Washington, DC November 29-December 3, 2017.

 

The prize consists of US $1,000 and direct consultation with the editor of the Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology toward the goal of revising the paper for publication.

 

The paper should draw on relevant anthropological literature and present data from original research in any field of Latin American and Caribbean anthropology.

 

Requirements: * Contestants must be enrolled in a graduate program in Anthropology at the time of submitting the paper. * Paper length: minimum 4000 words and maximum 6000 words. * Languages: English, French, Portuguese and Spanish. * Must hold a student membership in the Society for Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology (SLACA) if awarded a prize (membership is not required at time of submission)

 

Papers must be submitted on or before August 1, 2017 to Cristina Alcalde, Committee Chair, Roseberry-Nash Award. Please email papers as attached documents to cristina.alcalde@uky.edu. Submissions should be formatted as an MS Word file and should include a) a de-identified copy of the submission, without name or other identifiers or contact information and b) a copy of the submission with the name of the author and other identifying information included.

Convocatoria: Premio Roseberry-Nash para estudiantes de posgrado 2017

Convocatoria

La Society for Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology anuncia la apertura de su convocatoria para el Premio Roseberry-Nash y solicita la entrega de artículos académicos inéditos y originales (no previamente publicados) para el concurso de 2017.


El concurso es en honor de dos antropólogos distinguidos, June Nash y William Roseberry, por sus múltiples contribuciones a la antropología de América Latina. El premio será presentado en el Congreso de la American Anthropological Association, Washington, DC, 29 noviembre al 3 de diciembre del 2017.

El premio es de US $1,000 y consulta directa con la editora del Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology para posible publicación del artículo. El artículo debería presentar resultados de una investigación original y estar vinculado con cualquier campo de estudio de antropología de América Latina y el Caribe.

 


Requisitos:
* Estudiantes deben estar inscritos en un programa de posgrado de antropología en el momento de envíar el artículo.
* El artículo debe ser de un mínimo de 4000 palabras y máximo 6000 palabras.
* Idiomas: inglés, francés, portugués, español.

* No es requisito ser miembro de la Society for Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology (SLACA) para la entrega de artículos, pero si el articulo es seleccionado como ganador, la persona deberá volverse miembro de SLACA (ver la página web de SLACA para más detalles:  http://www.aaanet.org/sections/slaca/membership-information/)


Fecha límite para la entrega de artículos es el 1 de agosto del 2017. Envíarselos por correo electrónico a Cristina Alcalde, Committee Chair, Roseberry-Nash Award a cristina.alcalde@uky.edu.
