War Studies and Defence Studies PhD Conference 2017
King’s College London | Thursday 18th to Friday 19th May 2017
The War Studies and Defence Studies PhD Conference is intended to provide an opportunity for PhD students from KCL’s War Studies and Defence Studies Departments to present their current research and hear about the work of their peers, in a rigorous but friendly academic environment.
The event will provide a forum for knowledge exchange and networking, as well as the opportunity to hear from senior staff from the Joint Services Command and Staff College, at the Defence Academy of the UK, as well from the War Studies and Defence Studies Departments.
The conference will be held at King’s College London Strand Campus on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 May 2017. Presentations will include topics related to Eurasian security, grand strategy, the laws of war, terrorism, military contractors and conflict in the Global South. The keynote addresses will be delivered by Sir Lawrence Freedman on Thursday and Dr Patricia Lewis (Director of International Security at Chatham House) on Friday.
