Call for Papers: “Switching Stages: Traversing Entertainment and Politics” presented by the Committee on Community Colleges, OAH The Committee on Community Colleges for the Organization of American Historians is soliciting papers from community college faculty for a panel session at the 2018 OAH meeting in Sacramento, California (April 12-14). The purpose of this session is to provide community college faculty the opportunity to present their original scholarship to an audience of their peers. The session theme, “Switching Stages: Traversing Entertainment and Politics,” is designed to both explore the connections between the political and entertainment worlds, as well as to examine those who have attempted to navigate between them.  Do you study an entertainer turned politician, or an entertaining political campaign? Does your research relate to the political entertainment industry or Hollywood politics? We are looking for papers that broadly explore the connections between entertainment and politics, and encourage submissions that take a distinct approach to the panel theme.    Our ideal panelists are those who incorporate their own research in an innovative way into the classroom.  We are accepting proposals for papers until May 31, 2017.  DISCLAIMER: All workshops and panels will be recorded as podcasts at the 2018 OAH meeting Please forward your 200 to 300-word proposal and CV to: Theresa Jach: theresa.jach@hccs.edu or Andrew Barbero: abarbero@pensecolastate.edu
