The editors of the Journal of Medieval Worlds invite contributions for its inaugural issue, in the form of articles, essays, and book reviews. This University of California Press publication aims to serve as a forum for multidisciplinary scholarship on the world in the period between 750 C.E. and 1500 C.E. We particularly aim to foster research on underrepresented areas of the medieval world, broadly defined, as well as articles that explore interconnections across regions and cultures.

Regions addressed in the journal include Japan, China, Central Asia, South Asia, East and West Africa, North Africa, Oceans and Seas, the Americas, Middle East and Levant, and Europe, including Northern and Eastern Europe. Fields and topics of interest include, but are not limited to, comparative medieval approaches and conditions, ecology, environment, food and agriculture, the politics of gender, sexuality, health, migration and travel, architecture and urban design, music and performance, comparative literature, politics, religion, science and technology, and stateless societies.

For more information, including guidelines for authors, please visit https://www.ucpress.edu/page.php?q=jmw.

Please send article proposals, including a brief summary, to JMWassistant@ucpress.edu. We will especially welcome articles in an advanced stage of completion and submitted to us by June 1, 2018.

We look forward to your submissions.
