A call for papers for an interdisciplinary workshop on the insurrectional present and past of Burkina Faso/Upper Volta, starting with the 1915-1916 great war against the colonial government, the 1950s revolutionary popular contestation in preparation for independence, the 1980s Sankara revolution, and the October 2014 popular uprising which ended Blaise Compaoré's regime, with many other episodes in between. The meeting will be held in Paris. Open to social science and humanities scholars from Africa, North America, Europe, and elsewhere. The deadline for submitting paper proposals is June 15 and the proposals and papers can be in French or English. The workshop is scheduled for October 25 and 26, 2017.
