Journal of the West, which has been publishing outstanding articles and theme issues on the history of the American West for over fifty years, is always looking for well researched, academically rigorous, but accessible articles that would benefit both the Western historical profession and society in the American West in general.
Each issue of the Journal is highlighted by a series of articles on a theme central to the history and life of the region. Please contact us at email@example.com if you have an idea for a future theme issue of the Journal, the knowledge and desire to edit the issue, and know of contributors who would like to write articles for such an issue.
Aside from the theme section articles, the Journal publishes a number of non-thematic articles in each issue's "About the West" section. The "Western Forum" section opens each issue with a shorter, more opinion-based, thought-provoking article. Please contact us if you have an idea or an article that may be provocative while remaining academically rigorous for this section. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if have an article that you would like to submit for consideration.
There is no minimum or maximum page length for submissions; about 5,000 words is typical.
