The University of Virginia Summer Language Intensive Program is accepting applications for the Tibetan language intensive this summer.

The courses include beginning and intermediate colloquial Tibetan.

The Course will be held from June 17 - August 10 2018

It wil be held on the lovely historic grounds of University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

This intensive immersion offers two years of Tibetan language training (12 credits!) in one summer.
*Learn to read, write and speak Tibetan language for eight intense weeks
*Engage with the local Tibetan community
*Learn the spoken language used today throughout Tibet, Nepal and India
*Learn the literary language of Tibetan Lamas and prepare for reading Tibetan Buddhist texts
*Explore a language that is a storehouse of centuries of Buddhist wisdom and Tibetan cultural knowledge
*Prepare for study abroad, graduate research, or your personal quest to learn more about one of the greatest Buddhist cultures in Asia

The course includes innovative pedagogy to cultivate deep understanding of Tibetan spoken and literary language.
It also includes conversations with a native speaking virtual language partner from Asia and the opportunity to continue studying Tibetan at UVa with new distance education classes.

There is no pre-requisite, start at ground zero!
