Call for Applications.

Clarke Chambers Travel Fellowships available for research at the Social Welfare History Archives and the Kautz Family YMCA Archives at the University of Minnesota.

Deadline April 15th.

Early-career scholars and those working on a dissertation are encouraged to apply for the Clarke Chambers Travel Fellowship. Each year, two to three Clarke Chambers Travel Fellowships are awarded for research at the Social Welfare History Archives and/or the Kautz Family YMCA Archives. Areas of focus may include, but are not limited to, the non-profit and social welfare sector, youth studies, physical culture and health and wellness, public health, American Protestantism, international adoption, and wartime programs.  Proposals to use materials from both archives are also accepted. Funds may be used for transportation, lodging, meals, and scanning.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to contact the staff at the archives discuss their research prior to submitting a proposal.

Applications should include: a vita; a brief research proposal that identifies source materials to be used and discusses the potential relevance of the sources to the research topic; an estimated travel budget (itemizing expenses up to $800); and two reference letters.

Applications are accepted by email (as attachments) or mail. Recipients are selected within 4-6 weeks; funds are then available immediately.
