The Black Theatre Association (BTA), a focus group of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education

*Please note: This is not a “debut” panel. Submissions are welcome from any scholar currently enrolled in a graduate program.

The American Theatre and Drama Society will also issue a call for emerging scholars for participation in this jointly coordinated panel. BTA encourages all graduate students working on black theatre and performance studies to apply. Papers may consider any aspect of black dramatic criticism, theatre history, plays, playwrights, performers, directors, designers, or any other topics related to black theatre and/or performance. The highest quality papers will be selected by our distinguished panel of theatre/performance studies scholar judges. The selected essays will receive specific feedback from judges to help authors strengthen their work for the national conference presentation.
