The Menzies Centre for Australian Studies (King’s College London) and the Institute for Culture and Society (Western Sydney University) invite you to a symposium and roundtable on British and Australian cultural fields and cultural policy (King’s College London, 16 April).

Details and registration are here:

Speakers include: Professor Tony Bennett, Professor David Rowe and Professor Deborah Stevenson (Western Sydney University) and Dr Dave O’Brien (The University of Edinburgh).

This event is based on a long-term research project at the Institute for Culture and Society, Western Sydney University (Australian Cultural Fields: National and Transnational Dynamics). It marks nearly quarter of a century since the 1994 Australian national cultural policy Creative Nation, followed by the creative industries policy initiatives behind Cool Britannia in the UK. As Australia is negotiating its relationship to Asia, and the UK is considering a post-Brexit world, we aim to address the changing cultural environments of both countries.

We would very much welcome your contribution and would also appreciate it if you could pass details of this event onto your colleagues and students.
