CPF: Call for Papers

Kente: Cape Coast Journal of Literature and the Arts is an open access, peer-reviewed, e-journal that is owned and published biannually by the Department of English of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. The Journal seeks to provide the platform for disseminating original and scholarly work on literature, film, and art. The Journal also aims to promote critical dialogue on theory and literary studies, comparative/global literature; masculinities in literature and film, slavery and the African literary imagination; literary/filmic explorations of indigenous knowldge forms/practices; literature and globalisation; literature and law; and the utopian impulse in African literature. For the maiden edition, we invite original papers for publication in June 2017. Papers may cover, but not limited to, the following broad areas:

  • African literature
  • African American literature
  • African Diasporan literature
  • Comparative, world/global literature
  • Gender issues in literature/film
  • Ecocritical issues in literature/film
  • Emerging issues in contemporary Ghanaian literature
  • Popular culture and the epistemologies of the everyday in Africa
  • Intersections between orality and writing
  • Emerging conceptualisations of heroism
  • African literature and governance

Submission Guidelines

All submissions must be:

  • original and should not have been published elsewhere
  • between 6000 and 7000 words
  • conform to the MLA style (7th Edition)
  • written in Times New Roman at 12 point (notes at 10) font size and 1.5 line spacing
