The Geist Institute's 2018  Old German Script Course will be held in Historic Bethania in Winston-Salem, NC.  This course, now in its 5th year, is designed for researchers and scholars who have a strong reading knowledge of German and want to decipher the script used in 17th-early 20th century German manuscripts. Participants meet for 30 hours of group instruction and practice during this intensive workshop.  Course instructor Julie Tomberlin Weber, Ph.D., has more than 25 years of experience transcribing manuscripts for the Moravian Archives, Old Salem, Inc., and numerous  researchers. In addition to Roger Minert's text, Deciphering Handwriting in German Documents, and a coursepack, participants may submit samples of handwriting from their own projects for group practice.  Join our  list of alums from Columbia Univ, The George Washington Univ., National Gallery of Art, Stanford, Univ. of Sydney, Vanderbilt Univ., and Wake Forest Univ.   Happy to provide references.
