Following the US election, we will have an election post-mortem panel followed by a discussion with the audience.

Panelists:

Joshua Dupuy is a lecturer in global politics and international affairs at Temple University Japan Campus.  He is a lawyer, and investor relations  professional.  He studied and worked in the United States and Europe, and served on Capitol Hill. Joshua currently teaches classes on European Union politics and law as well as the American presidency. He remains active in US politics, having volunteered at the past two nominating conventions for President Barack Obama in Denver and Charlotte and worked on political campaigns.  He holds an AB and JD from The American University and an EMBA from ESCP.

Ann Fabian is a lecturer in the North American Studies program at Tokyo University’s Komaba Campus.  She earned her PhD in American Studies from Yale and taught there for a decade before joining the history department at Rutgers University, where she was Distinguished Professor of History and Dean of Humanities.  A cultural historian, she is the author of books on gambling, American autobiography and scientific racism, as well as essays and reviews on topics ranging from natural history to the history of luck.

Ken Moskowitz is Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Temple University Japan Campus. In 2015, he completed a 30-year career as a Foreign Service Officer at the State Department.  He served as an inspector with the Inspector General and as an APSA Congressional Fellow for Sen. James Jeffords and Rep. Nancy Pelosi. His overseas postings, where he specialized in press and cultural work, included Sofia, Budapest, Kyiv, and Tokyo, where he was the American Center Director. He has also taught at the State Department’s Foreign Service Institute, and attended SAIS/Johns Hopkins University as a mid-career Fellow. He holds a Ph. D. from the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, an M.A. in Philosophy from Brown University, and a B.A. in History and English Literature from Swarthmore College.

Miya Shichinohe-Suga is Associate Professor in the Area Studies department at Tokyo Gakugei University. A historian on U.S. census, race and immigration, her current book project is on the how the he U.S. census had enumerated minorities, e.g., “Free Blacks,” “Civilized Indians,” and Asians. She served as a visiting scholar at the US Census Bureau in Washington D.C. in 2008. She holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. from International Christian University (ICU) and a B.A. in American Studies from Tsuda College.
