Call for papers: Edited Collection on Nationalism and Sport. Contributions of particular interest will focus on athletes and social justice.

 

Athlete as a National Symbol: Nationalism, Sport, and Social Justice, A volume to be edited by Nicholas Villanueva, Jr., Ph.D., Director of Critical Sports Studies, University of Colorado, Boulder

 

This is a multi-discipline volume that will explore the following:

Racism and Sport

Politics and Sport

Sport and Cyberbullying

Women, Inequality, and Sport

Sexuality and Sport

Ableist Ideology

Racial Ideology

Gender Ideology

Social Class Ideology

Athletes and National Allegiance

Fandom

 

Interested contributors should submit a 300-word proposal and CV to Dr. Nicholas Villanueva at nicholas.villanueva@colorado.edu

 

Proposals are due November 1, 2016; Full chapter contributions (8,000 – 15,000 words, including Works Cited) should be submitted in Chicago style, due February 15, 2017.
