While registering for the annual meeting in the ASA Member Portal, please also take that opportunity to renew your 2018 membership if you have not yet renewed or enrolled.
 
ABOUT THE MEETING
We are soliciting proposals for papers, panels, roundtables, Author meets Critic, and flash sessions. Presentations may focus on the theme of “Energies: Power, Creativity and Afro-Futures” or on broader social science, humanities, and applied themes relating to Africa. We strongly encourage the submission of formed panels. You can find more information about the theme and the call for proposals on the ASA website.
 
HOW TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL
Instructions for submitting proposals can be found online in the ASA's 2018 Submission Guidelines.  If your proposal is accepted, you will have the opportunity to showcase your important work to thousands of Africanists from around the world and across all academic disciplines! Please note that pre-registration for the meeting must be paid by March 15 for your proposal to be considered. Please click here for information on the ASA's refund policy.
 
SUBMIT A CALL FOR PANELISTS
The ASA encourages individuals to post calls for panelists on the ASA website before the March 15 deadline, so that participants may utilize the ASA network to find potential panelists. Calls for Panelists may be submitted through the form on the ASA website. A list of proposed panels, along with contact information for their chairs, will be made available on a rolling basis on the ASA website.  Please note that panel organizers must finalize their panel participants and submit an organized panel proposal by March 15, 2018.

HOW TO LOG IN TO THE ASA'S NEW WEBSITE
Please log in to your ASA account from the ASA Member Portal. If you had already created an ASA account prior to the launch of the ASA's new website, you must enter your email address that you associated with your ASA account in the username field, and click on the "forgot password" link in order to protect the security of your password. If you are creating an ASA account for the first time in the ASA's new website, please click on the "Subscribe or Become a Member" link at the bottom of the log in box to create your new ASA account.
