Georgian-German Cotutelle-based "Lehmann-Haupt International Doctoral Programme"

The transdisciplinary “Lehmann-Haupt International Doctoral Programme” is a joint project between Ilia State University Tbilisi (ISU) and Georg-August-University of Göttingen (UGOE). The structured programme offers PhD positions in several science fields. Commencing in April 2018 the participating PhD students will undergo Cotutelle-based supervision and conduct doctoral studies at ISU in Tbilisi/Georgia and UGOE in Göttingen/Germany. The PhD students will each receive a maintainance stipend, as well as funding for research activities and conference travel in support of their doctoral project. Upon successful completion of the doctoral project a PhD degree by each of the two universities (double degree) will be awarded.

- East-European History

  • Everyday Life during World War II
  • Sport History (with Reference to World War II)
  • Late Socialism and Oral History
  • Memory and History

- Religous and Cultural Studies

  • The History and Theology of German Settlements in Georgia (Focus on German Protestant Theology)
  • The Coexistence of the Christian and Muslim Community (Focus on interreligious Dialogue)
  • The Social Role of the Georgian Orthodox Church (Focus on social and political Context)

- Political Science

  • Development of parliamentary System(s)
  • Origin and Development of political Parties
  • Development and Consequences of the Electoral System(s)
  • The Concept of Democracy

- Constitutionalism

  • Constitutions and constitutional Reforms
  • Europeanization and legal Approximation
  • The Role of Religion and Nationalism in political Transformation
  • Human Rights in Georgia and Germany
