Conference organizers: Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Faculty of Social Sciences: Department of Education and Culture), Warsaw University (Faculty of "Artes Liberales": Commission Speculum Byzantinum), Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw (Faculty of Theology: Institute of Culture-Religion Dialogue) and University Maria Curie-Skłodowska in Lublin (Faculty of Arts: Institute of Fine Arts)

The organizers have the honour to invite you to participate in an international conference regarding the interdisciplinary problem of happiness in contemporary culture.

The subject of our interest is the interdisciplinary problem of happiness in contemporary culture, and the following issues in particular:

  • idea and concepts - happiness as value, happiness and values, the question of its relationship with beauty, truth and goodness
  • shaping the concept of happiness taking philosophical, theological and psychological influences into consideration, and expressing it in the language of symbols
  • consciousness, spirituality and volition in pursuit of one's own happiness and the happiness of others
  • the reflection of the idea of happiness in art in different cultural traditions
  • the search for happiness and the illusory paths of materialism and consumerism leading to it, illustrated in art with hundreds of examples of misers who accumulate wealth, treasure hunters, seekers of immortality, in the modern world, the pursuit of material goods that are associated with happiness

The purpose of the conference is to present the results of research and theoretical considerations, which will contribute to updating the state of knowledge about the concept in which we are interested.

We expect for abstracts up to 1000 signs with spaces for:

oral presentations  (papers)

posters

• on-line presentations  

Abstract Submission deadline: March, 31, 2018

The organizers provide three options for the presentation of research results and / or theoretical findings by the participants:

Oral presentation  - up to 15 minutes maximum, with the possibility of supplementing the verbal message with a multimedia presentation of 10-12 slides in PowerPoint (PPT, PPTX) or PDF format

Poster - A1 format (594×841mm)

• On-line presentation - up to 10 minutes maximum

The papers, regardless of the presentation type, can be published, after the positive qualification, in the Internet Peer-reviewed Scientific Quarterly "Culture-Media-Theology" / "Kultura-Media-Teologia", ISSN 2081-8971. More information: kmt.uksw.edu.pl

The conference fee is:

• PLN 350 for Participants with paper or poster

• PLN 100 for on-line Participants

The conference fee includes • Conference materials, • Coffee Breaks, • Lunch on both days of the conference, • Gala Dinner on June, 5; • Publication of the article after two positive reviews. The conference fee does not include: • Accommodation, • Travel (Possibility of Accommodation: Assistant Hotel "Ikar", ul. Nowoursynowska 161, 02-787 Warsaw, ikar [at] sggw . pl tel. +48 22 59 33 700. Participants can reserve the room by themselves in the Assistant Hotel "Ikar" in the University Campus in the preference fee, up to April, 20, 2018)
