The Institute of Caribbean Studies, University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras (UPR-RP), invites the academic community and the general public to the Keynote Lecture: “In the Shadow of Flora and Katrina: Response to Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the Neoliberal Age”, by Dr. Stuart B. Schwartz, George Burton Adams Professor of History; Council  on Latin American & Iberian Studies, Yale University. Dr. Juan A. Giusti-Cordero, Department of History, College of Humanities, and Social Sciences and the Caribbean Archive, College of Social Sciences, UPR-RP, will introduce the lecturer and will comment the lecture. Dr. Tania del Mar López-Marrero, Department of Social Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Center of Littoral Studies, UPR-Mayagüez, will also comment the lecture. The activity will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Room 238 (REB 238) of the Ramón Emeterio Betances (REB) Building, College of the Social Sciences, UPR-RP. This presentation will be broadcast LIVE online through the UPR-Rio Piedras web site at
