Dear Colleagues,

Holly Folk and I are hoping to put together a panel that examines "conversion" as it relates to American populist movements. We are particularly interested in work that analyzes American populist movements that convert seemingly opposed or distinctly separate factions into a single movement, subsequently altering future lines of demarcation.

My work examines Alexander Campbell's religious/business success and how it depended on selling and sustaining a populist form of Christianity. Holly's work looks at the emergence of chiropractic and the story of its founders as a lens for considering american populism, religion, and culture. We hope to find one or two other panelists who look at American populism and conversion using diverse and creative perspectives.

Please send a short abstract, a brief CV, and contact info by February 5 to jamesdupey@gmail.com.
