We seek your expertise on the work of James Baldwin for a forthcoming volume entitled The Routledge Companion to James Baldwin. The volume will contain forty articles on this author and his work, and it promises to be the touchstone volume on Baldwin for some time to come. It seeks to be comprehensive in its treatment of Baldwin’s work and seeks to present cutting-edge scholarship on this author. Suggested chapters

Deadlines: If you are willing to submit a chapter for the volume, please let us know now by sending an email to both of the addresses listed below. We will require that by July 1st you send us a short biographical statement and a brief abstract of 150-200 words indicating which chapter you will submit and how you will treat the selected chapter. We will respond to abstracts on a rolling basis. They can be submitted earlier and will help us to ensure that we avoid repetition in the volume. The completed draft of the chapter—8,000 words, including references and a bibliography—will be due by February 1, 2024. We ask that each chapter contain a meaty literature review for the past 7-10 years on the topic and that you push the discourse on the topic forward.
