Examining the life of Prince Rogers Nelson: Known to the World as, Simply, Prince.
Special Issue: Journal of African American Studies
On April 21, 2016 the world lost one of this century’s most dynamic and talented performers, songwriters, and musicians. The Journal of African American Studies welcomes abstracts that deepen our understanding of this musical virtuoso from any number of perspectives and angles, utilizing any number of methodological approaches. Works that feature or focus on musical acts founded by or affiliated with Prince are also welcome.
While this issue will mainly consist of scholarly articles, a limited number of essays, opinion pieces, reflections, and personal recollections will also be considered for publication. Writers are encouraged to be as creative with their ideas as Prince was with his songwriting, music, and image.
To be considered for this special Summer 2017 issue of the journal, prospective authors must submit an abstract of no more than 300 words by July 7, 2016 via email to both guest editors Judson L. Jeffries, PhD (Jeffries.email@example.com) of The Ohio State University and Shannon Cochran, PhD (ShannonCochran@clayton.edu) of Clayton State University.
Authors will be notified by July 15, 2016 of approval. Full papers are due by January 16, 2017 and will be subject to peer review. Only those who have submitted abstracts will be invited to submit full papers.
