Diaspora, Identity and Belonging

Transnational and Global History Seminar’s Annual Graduate Conference, June 5-6, 2023
Online and in-person at the University of Oxford

Call for Papers
Abstracts deadline Saturday, 15th April, 2023

For our annual graduate conference, the Oxford Transnational and Global History Seminar invites our fellow graduate students, early career historians and scholars in adjacent disciplines whose work engages with diaspora(s) to apply. The conference will investigate diasporic histories and identities as a way to disrupt the fiction of geopolitical borders, unsettle the nation as a unit of analysis, and destabilise colonial logic that coerces (dis)placement.

To apply, please send

(1) an abstract of 200-300 words and a proposed title, as well as
(2) a short bio of 200 words or less summarizing your work and institutional affiliations by April 15, 2023, to conference@oxfordtghs.com.

Accepted abstracts will be notified by the first week of May, with final papers expected by June 1 to be circulated among fellow panellists and moderators. Each presentation will last approximately 20-30 minutes and each panel will include a Q&A. Further details can be found on the TGHS website.
