Helsinki University Press welcomes new book proposals and manuscripts

Helsinki University Press (HUP) is an award winning, expanding scholarly publisher of Open Access books and journals. We aspire not only to expand audiences but also aim for internationally excellent quality. We offer researchers support and services to make sure that publishing their work in Open Access is smooth, professional, and of high quality. 

We welcome book proposals from academic researchers, both early-career and established scholars, irrespective of their affiliations. We accept proposals and manuscripts for monographs and edited volumes written in English.

All proposals are first evaluated by the HUP editorial team and the Press’ international Academic Board. Selected proposals and manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process prior to a publishing decision.

HUP’s services include copy-editing by native English speakers, indexing by professional indexers, and cover design by graphic designer. Books are available as PDFs, and accessible EPUBs (we follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. and the European Accessibility Act). Print books can be purchased as print-on-demand, keeping the cost of reasonable.
