Call for Papers

Workshop “The Buriat Studies: New Perspectives”

Deadline: May 15th, 2023

Venue: New York University, October 2023 (exact days TBD).

The purpose of this workshop is

  • to bring together scholars who work on the Buriats, their history, culture, religion, and society

  • discuss problems of interpretation, methodology and sources

  • familiarise ourselves with the work currently in progress.

The primary goal of this workshop is to produce a special journal issue. This means that your pre-circulated paper should be an original piece of scholarship that will not appear in a monograph (or other format) before eventual publication in a journal.

Please confirm explicitly that a revised version of the paper you have proposed would be available for format consideration and ultimate publication.

Please send a paper title and abstract (up to 300 words) and a brief academic biography (200-400 words) to tatiana.linkhoeva@nyu.edu by May 15h, 2023

PhD students and early career researchers are encouraged to apply.

The workshop will be in a hybrid format, allowing for virtual participation.

Accommodation for two nights in New York will be provided for all in-person participants travelling within the US. Limited funds will be available to offset travel costs.
