Designed for advanced degree students, public and private sector executives, the ICH Research & Management International Summer School delivers theoretical and practical framework to explore and valorize intangible cultural heritage resources through innovation in cultural & creative industries, events & tourism planning. Scholars and experts in intangible cultural heritage, ICH certified facilitators, government and private business executives will share their expertise to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in ICH research and management and to foster career development & professional collaboration.

Course Structure

The course will be structured around the main aspects and themes of ICH research and management and will include lectures, interactive discussions, and field trips. At the end of the course, participants will present a coursework based on their individual interests and work during the school. The participants who have presented the best coursework will have the possibility for additional consultations to develop an article or research note for a publication in a scientific journal.

  • Advanced degree students (M.A., Ph.D.) in cultural studies, tourism, regional studies, mass communications, history, social anthropology and the related fields

Application procedure

Application for the ICH Research & Management International Summer School is highly competitive and assumes commitment to research and management of the culture and tourism industries as current or future profession. Since places are limited, and fees are subsidized by the generous support of the Municipal Government of Plovdiv and the University of Plovdiv, we highly recommend that you apply as early as possible.

After completing the Application Form and your Personal Statement of Interest you will be prompted to send by email at your CV or Résumé in English.

Your application will be carefully examined and evaluated based on your CV/Résumé. The approval will be based on academic and professional achievements, as well as on the expressed commitment to the ICH field in your Personal Statement of Interest.

Practical Information

Course duration: 7 days

Tuition: EUR 125, covering all course lectures and scientific activities, reading materials and educational trips (see program), welcome cocktail and gala dinner, participation certificate
