The Center for Genocide Research and Education seeks applications for board members and advisory board members. There are five board member positions and three advisory board positions open.

The Center for Genocide Research and Education is a nonprofit organization focused on raising public awareness of genocide and mass atrocities through research and community-based activism on a local and international scale. The Center for Genocide Research and Education is also dedicated to researching the causes and types of genocide and mass atrocities to promote evidence-based policy decisions, international activism, and the formation of early warning indicators.

The ideal board member should be comfortable talking about genocide with various donors and be willing to fundraise. The Center for Genocide Research and Education has an expectation of 100% board giving and board members will be expected to contribute to the extent they are able. In addition, any applicant with skills in the following areas are encouraged to apply: fundraising, development, financial (e.g. accounting, auditing, oversight), community relations, and organizational management. Individuals should be attentive to detail, be a strategic thinker, strong communicator, and a team player.

The ideal advisory board member will be an individual with experience in the genocide field, ideally a professional that researches or teaches about genocide. If you are a visionary and have a passion for helping a small nonprofit grow and make a difference in genocide prevention, this may be the position for you! Advisory board members are not expected to fundraise, but help with the overall direction of the organization.

Members of the board and advisory board will meet quarterly by Zoom. It is not necessary for members to be residents of Colorado or the US. The board and advisory board will usually meet separately with the exception of one joint meeting at the end of the fiscal year in June. To apply or ask questions, please email
