Calling for papers to organize a panel for the upcoming 2019 American Historical Association meeting in Chicago, Jan. 3-6. This year's theme is "Loyalties," and the panel that I hope to form is tentatively titled "Religious Loyalities in the Atlantic World: The Conundrum of True Conversion." My research focuses on English missions to Indians in New England, so I hope to find three other panelists working on aspects of religious exchange and conversion within the wider Atlantic World to offer comparative or divergent perspectives on the topic of conversion and how lingering doubts and uncertainties about non-European "converts" influenced colonial developments. Please send a paper abstract of 300 words, a brief CV or biographical paragraph of up to 250 words, and affiliation/contact information if interested by January 24, 2018. I will notify fellow participants within the following week and hope to submit the session proposal by February 1.
