This conference aims to historicize our own moment, identify the larger themes of the early 21st-century, and influence how its taught on the secondary and undergraduate levels.

Keynote speakers include Richard White, Margaret Byrne Professor of American History Emeritus, Stanford University, and Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Ramita Navai. White's work focuses on the history of capitalism and corporations, the American West, Native-Americans, and the environment. Navai's films deal with war, the status of women, the Middle East, and Islamic fundamentalism. She is also the author of "City of Lies," an expose of life in Tehran.
