Caribe House Press is preparing to publish the first installments of its new Caribe Classics Series. We are in need of introduction chapters for the following titles:

  • Kipling's The Jungle Book
  • Twain's A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court
  • Stevenson's Treasure Island
  • Bronte's Wuthering Heights

Each book's introduction should be between 4000 and 6000 words and should include a brief overview of the author's biography and the book's publication, followed by a summary of major themes of interest to a modern audience. The intended audience for this series is an average high school or early college level readership, so submissions should maintain a careful balance between accessibility and meaningful academic discourse. Selected contributors will receive one complimentary copy of the book and the option to buy additional copies at 50% off the listed price.

If you are interested, send an email to with the phrase "Caribe Classic Introductions" in the subject line. Provide a CV and a two-page writing sample, and list the title or titles toward which you are interested in contributing. Only one book will ultimately be assigned to any given indivudual.

The deadline for expressing interest in this project is Saturday, May 7, 2016. You will receive a decision by May 14. If you are selected to contribute, the final submission deadline for the introduction chapter will be Saturday, June 18, 2016.
