These awards are open to academics, artists, doctoral candidates, museum professionals, and writers, who are working in any field related to British visual and material culture. Recipients of the award have the opportunity to access the YCBA’s rich holdings of paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, rare books, and manuscripts, as well as material from the wider Yale network of museums, libraries, and special collections. Awards cover the cost and arrangement of a J1 visa (when applicable), travel to and from New Haven, and include accommodations as well as a living allowance. Recipients are required to be in residence in New Haven for the duration of their award and must be free of all other significant professional responsibilities during their stay. Residency dates for successful applicants in the 2024 cycle may be held between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024.
