We seek a chair and a third (and possibly a fourth) panelist for a proposed OAH 2019 panel on public representations of citizenship. One paper explores the memorialization of masculine ideals of citizenship through analysis of the statue including Theodore Roosevelt that stands outside the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. The other paper examines the performance of feminine ideals of citizenship via folk dance in Midwestern institutions of higher education in the early twentieth century. We particularly welcome those with interests and intersections in music, theater, fine arts, literature, religion, and/or literature.
