CSU Fresno 23rd Annual History Graduate Symposium
Redefining and Re-imagining Turning Points in History
Saturday, April 15th, 2023
The California State University, Fresno History Graduate Student Association (HGSA) announces the 23rd Annual History Graduate Student Symposium, which will be on Saturday April 15th, 2023 in Fresno, California. This will be a hybrid event with panel and roundtable discussions.
The 23rd Annual History Graduate Student Symposium theme will be Redefining and Re-imagining Turning Points in History. Turning points in history refer to historical events that shaped or altered the course of history. These narratives often exclude other factors that according to some scholars are crucial to the story. Therefore, we ask presenters to redefine and re-imagine these turning points to include the unheard voices, and/or provide new context that will shape our contemporary understanding of these turning points in history.
We invite graduate students from History Departments and related fields to submit proposals. We encourage submissions from diverse historical and geographical backgrounds, as well as varied historiographical and methodological approaches to history in-person or via zoom presentation.
Paper proposals should be no more than 250 words (CV optional). Please indicate in your proposal whether you want to present in-person or online. Proposals should be uploaded at this link (https://forms.gle/HzQckEgbtoe7DisY6) by Wednesday, February 15th, 2023. We strongly encourage students to submit proposals even if their research is ongoing. Please contact Nicholas Mckenna, President of HGSA at nicholas_mckenna@mail.fresnostate.edu
The 23rd Annual History Graduate Student Symposium is sponsored by Associated Students, Inc., the College of Social Sciences, and the Department of History at California State University, Fresno.
