Francis Marion Universitiy is hosting the Universities Studying Slavery in South Carolina Symposium on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 8:30am to 5:00pm at the Luther E. Carter Health Sciences Center in downtown Florence, South Carolina. FMU welcomes you to join us for a day of presentations from South Carolina community members, non-profit leaders, university students, and professional scholars on historical and contemporary issues dealing with race and inequity. The presentations will include topics such as research into college and university histories related to slavery; partnerships developed between academics and neighboring communities; and initiatives underway on campuses and in communities to educate students and the broader public.
