Historifans is passionate about creating exciting and inclusive conversations that can ultimately encourage all of our readers, both academic and non-academic ones, to think critically about the world around them, especially about the media we consume on a daily basis.

Some of our recent articles include...

“'A Child Who Scoffs at Tradition': Racial Essentialism, Identity, and Pan-Africanism in Black Panther" by Nicholas McLeod, Assistant Professor, Rider University

"From Carl von Clausewitz to The Chicks: A Conversation with Jeremi Suri, Author of Civil War by Other Means: America’s Long and Unfinished Fight for Democracy"

"Ann Romano: What Took You So Long? Understanding One Day at a Time As the First American Sitcom About Divorce" by Stephanie Margolin, Associate Professor/Librarian, Hunter College Libraries

"Kill Bill and Pedagogical Responsibility: What Pai Mei and Hattori Hanzo Can Teach Us about Teaching Others" by Olavo Passos de Souza, Doctoral Candidate, Stanford University

"The Feeling Data: A Journey Into the History of Human(oid) Emotions" by Felicitas Hartung, Doctoral Candidate, University of California, San Diego

Historifans is ALWAYS looking for contributors who want to geek out and write articles about the connections between pop culture and their scholarly interests. We also welcome digital humanities articles/projects.  Every pitch and article that we receive will go through a full review process.  Articles should be no longer than 2000 words and must be accessible for non-academic audiences.

We highly encourage graduate students, early career academics, alt-ac professionals, non-traditional scholars, and people from historically marginalized and excluded groups to submit articles.

Still interested? Submit your pitch here!

We are also still accepting pitches for our 1990s series! You can find more information here
