Worldwide Waste is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal devoted entirely to the critical interrogation of the cultural, social, economic and political systems within which waste is created, managed and circulated. The journal privileges no particular theories, debates or trends. Its goal is to actively stimulate publications of innovative scholarship on relatively unexplored topics and/or from geographical areas that have thus far been underrepresented in waste studies.

We are now seeking proposals for the Winter 2023 Special Issue. Submissions are invited for all research related to the subject of waste. We encourage submissions from all theoretical and methodological in the Social Sciences and Humanities. We are particularly interested in the following topics:

  • Time and waste - the past, present, and future of waste
  • Historicizing waste
  • Waste and colonialism
  • The material culture of waste collection and recycling
  • Freeganism
  • Recycling, freecycling, upcycling
  • Circular economies
  • Visual essays of waste

Deadline is January 15, 2023. Please visit our website for more information on how to submit your proposal: https://www.worldwidewastejournal.com/
