Postwar Area Literature Group CFP - American Literature Association 2023 Conference
The Postwar Area Literature Group invites submissions on the following postwar + contemporary topics for the 2023 American Literature Association Conference, which will be held in Boston, MA from May 25-28. Please send abstracts by January 15th, 2023 to Jacqueline Foertsch at Jacqueline.email@example.com.
Postwar Gothics – Discussions of post-WWII poetry, drama, or prose that draws on the romance/horror tradition are welcome. The uncanny in postwar literature; states of uncertainty or indeterminacy in postwar literature; violence, haunting, or nightmare in postwar literature.
Postwar Economies – Discussions of post-WWII poetry, drama, or prose focused on finances, monetary values, wealth or poverty, inheritance, insurance, etc. are welcome. Class-based identities, peace and prosperity, production and reproduction (of labor, wealth, status), boomtimes and baby booms, strivers and social-climbers, keeping up with the Joneses, escape from poverty, and related themes.
Contemporary Gothics – Discussions of poetry, drama, or prose 1980-present that draws on the romance/horror tradition are welcome. The uncanny in contemporary literature; states of uncertainty or indeterminacy in contemporary literature; violence, haunting, or nightmare in contemporary literature.
