FEATURED JOB: Assistant Professor, pre-1900 African American/Women- North Carolina Central University
The Department of History at North Carolina Central University seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant Professor in pre-1900 African American Women’s history, beginning Fall 2023. We seek a candidate who can teach survey and upper-level courses in U.S./African American history, the underrepresented histories of Black women, and who can place U.S. history within a larger global diasporic context. The ideal candidate will have a research focus on African American women’s history; the ability to direct research in African American women’s history; excellent teaching skills; a commitment to advise and mentor students at both the B.A. and M.A. levels; the ability to work with faculty and staff on efforts to retain students; and will be expected to serve on departmental, college, and university level committees.
Ph.D. in African American or United States History with a research focus African American Women required by job start date.
