In 2017 we celebrate the 500th anniversary of Luther’s 95 Thesis, and consequently the events that led to the different movements of religious reformation. The editors of the new series The Iberian Religious World (Brill) plan to join the celebrations of this important event by organizing a series of sessions on the topic of the Reformations within the Iberian World, envisaging the publication of a volume that thoroughly explores the topic within the Iberian spaces. We welcome the submission of papers on any expression of the Reformations, but we are particularly interested on papers that explore the pre-reformations period, the influence of the movements led by Luther, Calvin, and Huizinga in the Iberian world, and in addition, how the resolutions of the Council of Trent have influenced Iberian religiosity.

The Iberian Religious World plans to sponsor special sessions on this topic at the following meetings, and we welcome participations that are original, interdisciplinary, and promote the dialogue about a theme that had a most influencing role within the Iberian world.

  1. EABS, Leuven, July 17-20, 2016;
  2. SCSC, Bruges, August 18-20 August, 2016
  3. AHA, Denver, CO, January 8-10, 2017
  4. RSA, Chicago, Il, March 30-April 1, 2017
  5. ISBL/EABS, Berlin, August 7-11, 2017
