Call for H-Migration Review Editor

Are you interested in becoming a review editor for H-Migration? H-Migration is dedicated to enhancing scholarly contributions on the global history of migration and the acculturation of immigrants and their descendants into their new society.

Review editors oversee the book reviews programs for specific networks. Review editors keep up on the literature in their field, order books through our reviews management system, assign reviewers, and shepherd reviews through the editorial process, working with the reviewer and H-Net’s copyeditors.

Prospective review editors for H-Migration should have expertise in the history of migration, displacement and refugees anywhere around the world.

As a review editor, you will be part of a well-established academic nonprofit and engage with students, scholars, and professionals within your subfield and from a wide variety of backgrounds. Review editors become pros in project management by keeping up on the regular tasks that the position entails to executing larger projects. Both review editors play a critical role in scholarly communications and knowledge dissemination within their networks and beyond. They also hone their critical thinking, problem solving, and discernment skills as they follow H-Net and network-specific guidelines and moderate debates and discussions. For review editors in particular, this opportunity helps scholars keep up on the literature in their fields, create a network of contacts as they locate reviewers, and hone their editorial skills.

H-Net also provides resources for review editors, such as a catalog of books to choose from and assistance in locating other books. We train review editors, teach them how to use our reviews management system, and support them in locating titles and appropriate reviewers. Our Home Office Staff is always available to assist.

Since H-Net’s inception nearly 30 years ago, H-Net has relied on volunteers to keep its networks running. H-Net Reviews has published nearly 50,000 reviews and prides itself on its quicker-than-average turnaround and opportunities for scholarly discussion of reviews.
