CALL FOR PROPOSALS 2023 ISQRMM Music and Medicine Conference (ONLINE)
The 6th Interdisciplinary Society for Quantitative Research in Music and Medicine (ISQRMM) conference will be held virtually from June 3-4, 2023. The purpose of the conference is to explore questions and techniques regarding the efficacy of music and health. The conference will be held via Zoom with live presentations and panels, and prerecorded performances.
SUBMISSION: ISQRMM is seeking proposals that focus on all aspects of the relationship of music to medicine in both quantitative and qualitative approaches. These proposals must be grouped in interdisciplinary research including but not limited to:
music and memory, music and the brain, music and anxiety, music and pain, music and stroke, music and aphasia, music and oncology, music and palliation, music and neuroscience, music and personality disorders, music and well-being, music and emotion, music and thanatology, music therapy, music in medicine, music and special education, music and the mind, music, religion, and healing, music and altered states of consciousness (trance), music and ophthalmology, music and dietetics, music and other allied health professions
ISQRMM will therefore consider all aspects of research that addresses music as it relates to medicine and health. New and unpublished information with erudite scholars in the field are welcome. ISQRMM invites all music scholars and allied health practitioners to submit proposals. Master’s and Doctoral students are also encouraged to participate. Presenters on complementary and alternative therapies on the human body, mind, and soul are welcome as well as cultural approaches and social science studies in quantitative research-based approaches. Submit an abstract of no more than 200 words in word.doc, with a curriculum vitae as e-mail attachments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Panels - In addition to individual paper proposals, full panel proposals may be submitted. Panels should include a description of the panel, the abstracts for the papers in the panel, as well as curriculum vitae for the participants including any moderator/discussant. Include the authors’ names, affiliations, email addresses, contact phone numbers and presentation format.
ISQRMM adheres to a blind review process and therefore identifiable information will be redacted when the submission is sent to reviewers. The deadline for submission is March 1, 2023. Authors are encouraged to submit their full papers by April 30, 2023 in consideration for a peer review publication in the forthcoming Journal of Interdisciplinary Society for Quantitative Research in Music and Medicine (publication, spring 2024).
