The GUINEIS Journal is an annual journal, included in the UGC Care List and published by the Gauhati University Institute of North East India Studies (GUINEIS). It publishes essays/research papers that focus on methods for studying the region, on North East India Studies as an interdsciplinary area studies project, on the politics of the category 'North East India', and on its historical, cultural and social realities, as well as its geographical character, its geological composition and its environmental resources and threats. It is now open for submissions for its 9th issue, due to be published in early 2023.

Each issue carries one opening piece that reflects on interdisciplinarity, a number of articles that approach the North East of India through multiple perspectives, an interview/conversation with an individual who has been associated in different capacities with the region, a piece from the archive of North East India and book reviews. There is also scope for publishing one or two pieces that might be part of works in progress.

Merely descriptive accounts are generally not welcome and the Journal gives preference to interdisciplinary investigations of chosen topics. We encourage potential contributors to do the following: 1. check out all details about the journal, including submission guidelines, and previous issues on the website: and 2. email us with proposals, queries for clarification and any other matter at the journal email id:

All submissions go through a two-tier review process - preliminary editorial review followed by double-blind peer review.
