This workshop is open for proposals for the inaugural session in Autumn 2022 of the NTU History Postgraduate Workshop Series. This term, we are focusing on imperial and colonial legacies around the globe. We invite fellow postgraduates to submit proposals for workshop presentations on any aspects of colonial and/or imperial history and its influences on the present state of the world.

We welcome contributions from a wide range of research interests relevant to, but not limited to, European imperialism and colonialism in areas such as political histories, economic histories, environmental histories, maritime histories, histories of science, medicine and technology, race, gender, class and migration studies, within the broader perspective of transnational and global histories. Submissions are not limited to these fields as long as they are related to the topic of colonial legacies.

The workshop will be held in-person and/or online from September to November 2022. We are open to diverse submissions from NTU and non-NTU postgraduates who work on relevant topics/disciplines. Individual presentations should be around 30 to 35 minutes in length, followed by 25 minutes of discussion. Interested participants should submit an abstract of no more than 300 words and a brief biography to ntuhistworkshop@gmail.com by 15 June 2022 (Wednesday). Shortlisted speakers will be notified by 15 July 2022 (Friday).
