GLOBAL COMPETENCIES FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

Osijek, November 14 – 15, 2022

We invite you to participate in the international scientific conference organized by the students of Postgraduate university study program Pedagogy and Contemporary School Culture. The conference will be held in Osijek at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and online via Zoom.

The goal of the conference is to emphasize the importance of development of global competencies, for both students and creators of educational policies. The development of global competencies allows improved mutual understanding, interconnection of the global and the local, critical thinking and an increase in competence for future challenges. Can we inspire students to be curious and motivated, open to diversity and ready to take responsibility? Can we prepare students for critical thinking and how? These are some of the questions we plan on answering.

Topics of the conference:

• education for the 21st century – a view into the future
• educational system reform on all levels: preschool, primary school, secondary school, university level education and lifelong learning
• curriculum for the development of global competencies

• interdisciplinarity in developing global competencies

Call for Abstracts

Abstract submission guidelines: The abstract word count must be limited to 150-300 words. There must be no more than 5 keywords clearly stated in both English and Croatian. All abstracts as well as full papers must be submitted in English via email: gc21@ffos.hr

Ways to participate: Prospective participants may participate by submitting the abstract and presenting their work at the conference. Prospective participants may also submit a full scientific paper in accordance to indicated dates. After the double-blind peer review, in the case of a positive response, the papers will be published in conference proceedings.   

Important dates:

• July 1, 2022 – abstract submission deadline
• September 1, 2022 – abstract acceptance deadline
• November 14 – 15, 2022 – the conference
• December 31, 2022 – full paper submission deadline

Registration proceedings:

The registration must contain the abstract, that must be submitted in English and contain no more than 300 words. The registration must also contain the full title of the paper, name of the author(s), institution and 3 to 5 keywords. The conference fee is 300 kunas, which should be paid to the IBAN number of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Osijek.
